The critical and specialty minerals box score for Tuesday was a positive 95-81-134 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose 15 points to 940. Sherritt International Corp. (S) added one-half cent to 15 cents on 5.11 million shares Monday as its management shuffle carries on. Leon Binedell has resigned as president, chief executive officer and director, effective immediately. His replacement, on an interim basis, is Dr. Peter Hancock.
Brian Imrie, chairman, lauded Mr. Binedell for his "dedicated service advancing important strategic initiatives during his [four-year] tenure, positioning Sherritt for its next phase." Accordingly, he and the board wish him all the best in his future endeavours. Mr. Imrie also thanked Dr. Hancock for stepping in, pointing to his familiarity with Sherritt's operations and decades of experience as a mining executive, which he says will ensure a smooth transition as the board conducts a thorough search for its next leader.
