The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a positive 85-70-155 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell one point to 802. Dr. Michael Gunning and Justin Daley's VR Resources Ltd. (VRR), an eight-center in 2022, had soared above 30 cents after it stumbled upon a kimberlite while testing targets near its Hecla-Kilmer rare earth project in Northern Ontario. The diamond bubble burst on word that the kimberlite held just a smattering of microdiamonds and Hecla-Kilmer has been sold, while VR's New Boston porphyry copper play is fading fast into the Nevada sunset. With nothing having come from the company's latest adventures, VR has fallen on tough times and its stock was unchanged at 2.5 cents on 29,000 shares today.
The last material news from anywhere that warranted immediate disclosure came in early April. Nevertheless, Dr. Gunning, executive chairman, and Mr. Daley, president and chief executive officer, brought investors up to date through the company's latest annual report that it filed yesterday. Not even an optimist can find much to cheer in the report -- remember that shoestring share price when setting your expectations -- but the company is soldiering on to its next great hope.
