The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a bleak 55-130-125 as the TSX Venture Exchange slid 11 points to 576. Blake Hylands's Lithium Ionic Corp. (LTH) fell three cents to 73 cents on 1.71 million shares following a brief and anticlimactic halt early Friday. Today, it held steady, closing at 73 cents on 849,000 shares.
The halt had been called so the market could digest word of an updated resource estimate for Lithium Ionic's Bandeira lithium deposit in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The company now lists 23.68 million tonnes measured and indicated at 1.34 per cent lithium oxide and 18.25 million tonnes inferred at 1.37 per cent -- good for a combined 1.4 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent.
Lithium Ionic cheered word just a week ago that its Salinas lithium project, also in Minas Gerais, was home to 5.86 million tonnes measured and indicated at 1.09 per cent lithium oxide and another 8.9 million tonnes inferred at 0.97 per cent, good for over 370,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent, much of which is deemed open-pittable rock.
