The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a so-so 93-95-122 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell fractionally to 587. Ewan Mason and George Read's Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM) closed unchanged at nine cents on 78,000 shares. With full ownership and control of the entire Fort a la Corne diamond project in central Saskatchewan now in its hands for the first time -- save for a few hours in mid-2017 before the now departed Rio Tinto Exploration Canada Inc. (RTEC) arrived as a partner -- Star Diamond is now free to do as it pleases with the mammoth kimberlites dotting the property.

Unfortunately, the company has exchanged one constraint on its actions -- a senior co-venturer calling the shots -- for another, a lack of the cash needed to do what it wants. And so, expect the company to play it by the book, updating resource estimates for the Star and Orion South pipes, then taking them to prefeasibility and feasibility over the next two years -- and hopefully beyond if all goes well.
