The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a sad 58-109-143 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell four points to 553. Dean Taylor's Diamcor Mining Inc. (DMI) was among the brighter ones, as it added one-half cent to 6.5 cents on 75,000 shares.

Diamcor sees 2024 as "a year of significant opportunity in which it can return its primary focus back to the advancement and growth of its Krone-Endora at Venetia project." That of course begs the question from investors: Where was the company's focus last year, given that Krone-Endora is the company's only project? (If one reads the company's 2023 wrap-up, one could incorrectly surmise the company was fixated on the buying and selling of rough diamonds by others, not mining and selling its own.)

No matter. Mr. Taylor, president and chief executive officer, cheers that Krone-Endora -- at Venetia, remember -- is "a compelling opportunity given its direct relationship with De Beers's Venetia diamond mine," a huge kimberlite mine that, Mr. Taylor says, is widely accepted as one of the most prolific diamond mines in the world. It is indeed, having produced several millions of carats each year since it opened 30 years ago -- production expected to continue until Venetia closes in the mid-2040s.
