The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a so-so 88-85-137 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell fractionally to 533. Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD) stumbled at the open, dipping to an intraday low of 20 cents, but ended the day up 2.5 cents to 25 cents on 487,000 shares.

John Wisbey's International Lithium Corp. (ILC) inched one-half cent higher Tuesday to four cents on 306,000 shares. The move followed word of a preliminary economic assessment of its Raleigh Lake lithium project in Northwestern Ontario. The study was cheered as positive by the company -- when are dream sheets deemed otherwise -- but the market reaction was muted. International Lithium did add another one-half cent to four cents on 305,000 shares today.

Raleigh Lake hosts 2.3 million tonnes measured and indicated at 0.64 per cent lithium oxide and 3.9 million tonnes inferred at 0.58 per cent, most of which are deemed open-pittable rock. The underground material grades only slightly higher than the open-pittable rock, a big reason why the proposed nine-year mine is entirely an open-pit plan. Also not included are the 133,000 tonnes measured and indicated at 0.67 per cent rubidium oxide and the 123,000 tonnes inferred at 0.46 per cent. That material would require a custom processing plan.
