The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a so-so 83-88-139 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell three points to 537. Investors mostly yawned at word that Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM) has its Kiwetin project back from Rio Tinto. Star rose just 1.5 cents to nine cents on 2.55 million shares today.

Dr. Stewart Blusson's Archon Minerals Ltd. (ACS) fell 8.5 cents to 13 cents on 1,000 shares when a board lot last traded in mid-October. Wonder of wonders, Dr. Blusson recently got around to updating Archon's mouldering quarterly management discussion and analysis report, which had hardened to boilerplate years ago. The company now says that it "will liaise with the new operator" of the Buffer claims, surrounding the Ekati mine in the Northwest Territories, "to determine of exploration and development activities will proceed."

That new operator is Australia-based Burgundy Diamond Mines Ltd., co-founded by the now retired Perer Ravenscroft and Michael O'Keefe. Burgundy had been exploring for diamonds in Australia and Canada, but it shocked the market early this year with word it was buying Ekati and its holding company, Arctic Canadian Diamond Co. Ltd. (ACDC), for $136-million (U.S.) from the creditors that took the mine over after Dennis Washington's Dominion Diamond Mines succumbed to bankruptcy in 2020.
