The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Friday was an upbeat 90-61-151 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose 11 points to 530. Francis MacDonald's Li-FT Power Ltd. (LIFT) had a good day, jumping 50 cents to $6.10 on 306,000 shares on word it has closed the sale of nearly 1.44 million flow-through shares at $8.65 apiece, raising $12.4-million, a sale that included full exercise of the underwriters' greenshoe option. The cash is destined for the company's Yellowknife lithium project, just east of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories, where it has been producing promising assays from drilling this year.

Paul Zimnisky's global rough diamond price index took another baby step upward this week, adding 0.1 point to 153.2 points. This is the fourth consecutive week of minuscule gains, some of which required modest upward tweaks resulting from late-to-arrive data. Over the last month, Mr. Zimnisky's index has now snailed its way northward from what stands as a two-year low of 152.3 points, managing a 0.6-per-cent gain over the past month.
