The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a so-so 80-108-122 as the TSX Venture Exchange lost seven points to 513. Ewan Mason's Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM) was unchanged at eight cents on 298,000 shares.

The wait drags on for word of the formal divorce separating the company from its soon-to-be former co-venturer, Rio Tinto Exploration Canada Inc. (RTEC), on the mammoth FalCon diamond project in central Saskatchewan. Not to worry, says Mr. Mason, Star's chairman and since the start of the year its interim chief executive officer -- the agreement should be public in a week or two at the most.

Investors have heard this before -- although with a longer if not a more vague "by-the-end-of-the-month" spin -- but Mr. Mason says that the agreement would have been signed, sealed and delivered already, save for a few late-breaking minor matters that need to be settled first. "There are a couple of issues that have to be addressed," he confirmed, adding that they were "nothing contentious" or anything that might unduly delay the deal.
