The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a mediocre 73-85-152 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose three points to 522. Diamond exploration is in the dumps these days and so too are those companies still exploring for gems, but even nearly dormant explorers are still in need of cash. The problem is finding willing backers. Just ask Patrick Power's Arctic Star Exploration Corp. (ADD), a 25 center in 2021 that closed unchanged at one cent on 243,000 shares today.

Mr. Power, president and chief executive officer, is seeking a paltry $300,000 to pay Arctic Star's bills and keep its lights on and telephones ringing -- and one hopes to do a bit of work here and there. To raise the cash, he is offering 30 million shares at one cent apiece. And so, for those with a quarter of a million dollars to bet that Mr. Power and his crew will survive to fight another day -- as he has in the past -- one can become a 10-per-cent insider of Arctic Star.
