The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Thursday was a weak 68-105-137 as the TSX Venture Exchange slid eight points to 611. Dermot Desmond and Mark Wall's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD) added one cent to 46.5 cents on 339,000 shares -- huddling on a perch not far removed from the company's all-time, COVID-ridden low of 25 cents in the dark days of 2020. The company can sell as much rough as it can mine these days, but sagging prices have investors worried. How worried they should be, will be revealed in two weeks with formal release of the second quarter report. Expect a solid quarter, reduced revenue expectations and words of good cheer for the future.

Francis MacDonald's Li-FT Power Ltd. (LIFT) rose 14 cents to $8.63 on 73,000 shares. The company has drilled a 79-metre interval averaging 1.13 per cent lithium oxide at its Fi Southwest pegmatite on the Yellowknife lithium project, just outside Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. The hit was from one of five holes, all of which returned lithium with solid grades over worthwhile intervals. The assays confirm a 320-metre strike and that should grow as drilling continues along another 800 metres of the body, to depths of about 250 metres.
