ZABEEN HIRJI RESIGNS FROM SLEEP COUNTRY CANADA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Sleep Country Canada Holdings Inc.'s Zabeen Hirji has shared her decision to resign from the board of directors, effective Oct. 20, 2023, to pursue other business and personal endeavours.

"As a director and chair of the human resources committee, Zabeen has been a valuable member of our board. She has provided insights, knowledge and expertise which align with our pursuit of ensuring an exceptional customer experience while supporting a culture of excellence, collaboration, learning and inclusion. On behalf of the board, I want to thank Zabeen for her years of counsel to the board and our company," said Christine Magee, chair of the board.

"Zabeen has provided support to our organization and I want to thank her for her counsel and leadership these past five years," added Stewart Schaefer, president and chief executive officer of Sleep Country Canada Holdings.

David Shaw, currently a member of SCC's board of directors (and its lead director from July 16, 2015, until May 6, 2022) will be appointed chair of HRCC at the third quarterly board of directors meeting on Nov. 9, 2023. Mr. Shaw was previously CEO of Knightsbridge Human Capital Solutions, a national human capital firm he founded in 2001. Mr. Shaw is currently chair of Axsium Group Ltd. Prior to founding Knightsbridge, Mr. Shaw was president and CEO of Pepsi Cola Canada Beverages (Pepsi) from 1996 to 1999. Mr. Shaw's career with Pepsi spanned 22 years within Canada and abroad in Australia, Singapore and Turkey. He currently sits on the board of directors of Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee Inc. and Ocean Capital Holdings.
