The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, Oct. 4, edition that CIBC World Markets analyst John Zamparo has reaffirmed his "outperformer" recommendation for Sleep Country Canada. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Zamparo gave his share target a $3 haircut to $28. Analysts on average target the shares at $29.33. Mr. Zamparo says he tweaked his share target after reducing his same-store sales estimate for the company's third quarter. Mr. Zamparo says in a note: "We are lowering our forward estimates for Sleep Country to reflect a more cautious environment for consumer spending than we previously had forecast, particularly for big-ticket discretionary purchases. We view 2024 as a more favourable time for the stock as comparisons ease, and drivers exist -- such as the continued integration of Casper Canada and store openings from new brands -- for earnings growth and a possible multiple rerate." The Globe reported on May 3 that RBC Capital analyst Sabahat Khan had reaffirmed his "sector perform" recommendation for Sleep Country when it could be had for $23.12. The Globe reported on Aug. 15 that Stifel analyst Martin Landry had reaffirmed his "buy" recommendation for Sleep Country when it was worth $24.10.
