The National Post reports in its Wednesday edition that U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to destroy Iran unless it reached a deal to end the conflict with the United States, delivering a speech to the United Nations that revealed his disregard for nations that might oppose his agenda. A Bloomberg dispatch to the Post reports that during his speech on Tuesday at the annual gathering of world leaders at UN headquarters in New York, Mr. Trump predicted that the government of Cuba would collapse. He also praised his decision to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and dismissed the notion that countries should impose restrictions on artificial intelligence. Although his speech at this year's General Assembly was less combative than last year's -- when he warned that other countries are "going to hell" -- Mr. Trump expressed his dwindling patience with the UN's mission to address global issues and promote world peace. That was made abundantly clear with Mr. Trump's warning to Iran, whose delegation left the hall as he threatened to destroy their country if they don't make a deal.
