Well Health talks clinic digitization, patient openings

2025-11-20 15:41 ET - News Release

Mr. Hamed Shahbazi reports

WELL HEALTH REPORTS STRONG ORGANIC GROWTH, MAJOR ADVANCES IN CLINIC DIGITIZATION, AND RAPID PROGRESS ON NEW PRIMARY CARE PATIENT OPENINGS

Well Health Technologies Corp. had continued momentum across its Canadian patient services business driven by strong organic growth, meaningful improvements in clinic digitization and successful execution on its primary care patient opening initiative. These achievements reflect Well's commitment to expanding access to care, enhancing operational efficiency and supporting health care providers through modern, technology-enabled clinical environments.

Detailed disclosure on organic growth for Canadian patient services

Well recently announced that it achieved quarterly revenue of over $110-million in Q3 2025 as part of its Canadian patient services business, reflecting overall growth of 41 per cent on a year-over-year basis. Well is pleased to provide enhanced disclosure on its organic growth figures, including detailed breakdowns of same-clinic growth and absorption-driven organic growth for both Well Medical Centres (WMC) and Well Diagnostic Centres (WDC) businesses as follows.

Clinic digitization progress

Well disclosed that it has achieved 92-per-cent progress in its core digitization initiatives for all primary care clinics that have been in its network for longer than nine months. Core digitization refers to four key areas of digital transformation, which include the following:

  • On-line patient booking: the ability for a patient to book an appointment on-line; to consider this feature being used, a clinic must have participation from substantially all or most providers practising at clinic;
  • Self-check-in: the ability for a patient to check themselves in upon arriving at a clinic using either a self-service automated kiosk or a patient mobile application;
  • Patient reminders: the ability for a clinic to remind patients for their appointments digitally after an on-line patient booking event;
  • Patient consents: the ability for patients to be able to review and manage consents using a self-service automated terminal or a mobile application before a consultation with a medical professional.

It is important to note that the mere implementation of the features noted above in a clinic do not denote digitization. Clinics achieve this designation only when the majority of all patients use such features as measured monthly by the company's clinic transformation team.

Core digitization is not reflective of all digital transformation initiatives being deployed at Well Clinics. AI (artificial intelligence) tools, such as AI Ambient Scribe and Well AI Decision support, alongside other applications, are currently being deployed across Well's network. More updates will be provided in the coming quarters on these and other initiatives.

Jeremy Mickolwin, vice-president of clinic operations at Well, commented: "We take clinic transformation very seriously and have a highly methodical way of approaching our digitization plans. Our goal is to ensure that every clinic in our network has achieved its core digitization within a year of operations. Our definition of core will likely expand as our new AI-enabled applications are being rapidly deployed and driving significant new benefits for providers."

The majority of all tools employed at Well's clinics are supported and developed by Wellstar Technologies Corp.

Progress report on new patient openings

On June 24, 2025, Well announced that, due to investments it had made in the recruitment and onboarding of physicians, including a number of internationally trained physicians, it had created availability for over 45,000 new primary care patient openings across three provinces (Ontario, Alberta and Manitoba). Well is pleased to report that, as of Oct. 31, 2025, it had already filled 25,000 of these new openings and expects to fully satisfy the balance of openings by end of Q1 2026. Alongside filling these spots, Well's continued focus on recruiting physicians has also created additional availability across its network, enabling even more patients to access timely primary care.

Dr. Michael Frankel, chief medical officer of Well, commented: "I am very proud of the work our team has done to rapidly assist patients and providers in getting to know each other. This is truly demonstrative of the positive societal impact of Well's work. The average primary care patient sees their provider six times per year and maintains the relationship for, on average, five to 10 years and sometimes much longer. This means that once we have fully satisfied all 45,000 patient openings, we will have created accessibility for 270,000 new yearly patient visits in alignment with Canada Health Act principles just from this new cohort that we launched in June of 2025."

Building patient rosters can be challenging for many independent physicians, even in the context of a nationwide physician shortage. While certain high-demand situations can lead to rapid roster uptake, this is not the norm in many communities. Without marketing reach, administrative support or digitized intake systems, physicians often face difficulties efficiently connecting with patients who are actively seeking care. In many settings, roster building depends on walk-ins, local visibility and word of mouth, which can result in slow and inconsistent panel growth.

Well addresses this challenge by leveraging its scale and centralized support infrastructure. The company accelerates roster building through dedicated marketing expertise, recognizable clinic branding and data-informed community engagement strategies. This integrated approach allows Well to connect physicians with patients far more efficiently than independent clinics can, helping providers build full, sustainable rosters while expanding patient access to longitudinal primary care.

Patients interested in being connected with a health care provider at a Well clinic through the new patient openings described above must have a valid provincial health card and can register on-line.
