The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday edition that Eight Capital analyst Ty Collin rates Verano Holdings "buy" in new coverage. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Collin targets the shares at $14. Analysts on average target the shares at $12.23. Mr. Collin says in a note: "Verano is distinguished by the fact that it owns nearly all of its operating assets, whereas most of its peers have raised funds through pricey sale-leaseback transactions. ... Setting aside some of these scars from its history, we believe the Verano Holdings of today has all the markings of a company deserving of a premium valuation, including industry-leading profitability, cash-generation, access to capital, and catalyst exposure. We expect to see Verano Holdings' valuation gap close over time as these overhangs fade from memory, and believe the stock is due for a rerate, potentially triggered by a major sector catalyst. We think that catalysts like rescheduling or SAFE banking could draw new investors into the cannabis sector, and we believe Verano is an ideal first point of contact given its relative profitability and safety." The Globe reported on July 6 that ATB Capital rated Verano "outperform." It was then worth $4.09.
