The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Aug. 25, edition that Echelon Partners analyst Andrew Semple has reaffirmed his "speculative buy" recommendation for Vext Science. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Semple gave his share target a 25-cent trim to $1. Analysts on average target the shares at 89 cents. The Globe reports that Vext Science is a cannabis operator based in the U.S. The Globe says Vext Science has vertical operations in Arizona and Ohio. The Globe says Mr. Semple tweaked his share target lower after the company posted weaker-than-expected second quarter results. Mr. Semple says in a note: "Sales surpassed forecasts but margins contracted by more than 20 percentage points quarter-over-quarter, which we view as the larger factor. Vext took actions to liquidate inventory to support its cash position, though this caused pressure on the company's margin profile due to both cash and non-cash charges. We believe the company will see gradually improved margins in H223, returning to roughly pre-Q223 levels."
