Trevali Mining Corp., a former Toronto Stock Exchange listing that collapsed in 2022 amidst operational problems, is facing a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of British Columbia over lead contamination. The suit, filed by an entity that purchased Trevali's Rosh Pinah mine in Namibia, claims that Trevali failed to disclose "alarmingly high blood lead results" found among locals. The buyer has since had to spend millions on mine improvements, the suit claims.

The allegations are contained in a notice of claim filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Oct. 9, 2025. The case was brought by Appian Natural Resources Fund III LP, which purchased Rosh Pinah on June 23, 2023, for $120-million (U.S.). Appian, which continues to run the mine, claims that it paid "materially more" for the operation than it should have, and is seeking court-ordered compensation.

The problems, as set out in the lawsuit, came to Appian's attention two weeks after it had purchased the mine. A newspaper in Namibia published an article claiming that Trevali had known about lead contamination at the mine and had hid it from the public for years, according to the suit. The issue was one of concern, as there was a town adjacent to the mine that housed employees and their family members, the suit states.
