The Investment Reporter, in its June 23, 2023, issue, says buy Transcontinental Inc., recently $14.90. The Reporter said buy 28 times from April 18, 2003, to Sept. 23, 2022, at prices ranging from $9.11 to $26.75. Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the 28 buys, the $28,000 position would now be worth $25,255. Transcontinental is a Canadian newspaper and marketing company. Specifically, the company is a major publisher of community newspapers in Quebec. For the six months ended April 30, 2023, Transcontinental had adjusted earnings of $60.2-million, or 70 cents a share, compared with adjusted earnings of $71.7-million, or 83 cents a share, in the same period a year earlier. The decrease was mostly the result of an increase in financial expenses and deprecation and amortization. The Reporter notes that earnings should decline from $2.19 a share in fiscal 2022 to $1.89 a share in fiscal 2023. The stock trades at just 7.9 times that estimate. The company's annual dividend of 90 cents a share is also equal to an attractive yield of 6 per cent. The Reporter says buy Transcontinental for long-term growth and income.
