The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, Oct. 11, edition that National Bank Financial analyst Maxim Sytchev has upgraded Stella-Jones to "outperform" from "sector perform." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Sytychev's share target soared $10 to $83. Analysts on average target the shares at $78.14. The Globe says Mr. Sytchev is expecting gains from increased infrastructure spending south of the border to be "resilient for longer." He sees "pole momentum" persisting. Mr. Sytchev says in a note: "After the incorporation of 2025 guide in our estimates as well as tracking the upside in volume growth from the bipartisan infrastructure bill (the U.S. is racing to fortify its grid infrastructure against extreme weather supporting resilient volume and pricing growth beyond normal maintenance levels), we are likely to see further positive earnings revisions for Stella-Jones, pulling shares up in tandem." Mr. Sytchev increased his financial projections for the Montreal-based manufacturer of pressure treated wood products to better reflect the company's guidance. He is now expecting 2023 and 2024 revenue of $3.29-billion and $3.54-billion, up from $3.26-billion and $3.46-billion.
