SOFTROCK MINERALS LTD ANNOUNCES GRANTING OF 200,000 SHARE OPTIONS TO DIRECTOR STUART B MCDOWALL, P.ENG, OF CALGARY ALBERTA

The board of directors of Softrock Minerals Ltd. has approved, subject to approval by the TSX Venture Exchange, granting director Stuart B. McDowall the option to purchase 200,000 common shares from treasury at 10 cents per share up to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 8, 2013.

Mr. McDowall joined the Softrock board of directors on Nov. 26, 2009, after 28 years in the Canadian Foreign Service in various countries including Greece, Colombia, Sweden, Cuba, South Africa, Lebanon and New York plus three years as Canadian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates from 1996 to 1999.
