Sage Potash Corp.'s former president, Timothy Mizuno, has filed a wrongful dismissal lawsuit against the company in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, claiming that Sage fired him after just nine months on the job. Mr. Mizuno says that he is entitled to one year of severance, amounting to $250,000, plus other amounts. He is seeking the court-ordered payment of that money.

The allegations are contained in a notice of claim that Mr. Mizuno filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Tuesday, May 19. The events at issue go back to April 17, 2025, when Sage hired Mr. Mizuno. (An April 21, 2025, news release on the appointment described him as having leadership experience that "makes him an exceptional fit for the company as we progress towards potash production in the United States." The company was "excited to have Mr. Mizuno on board as we work towards this goal," the news release proclaimed.)

According to the suit, all went well at first. Mr. Mizuno was to receive an annual salary of $250,000 plus bonus shares, a stock option, health coverage, a pension matching plan and up to $20,000 a year for "executive and professional development." He was also to receive four weeks of vacation annually.
