Mr. Michael England reports

ROCKLAND RESOURCES ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF CHRIS DORN TO ADVISORY BOARD

Rockland Resources Ltd. has welcomed Chris Dorn to its advisory board.

After graduating from MIT with two degrees and completing four years of active-duty military service, Mr. Dorn joined Brush Wellman Engineered Materials Inc., which went on to become Materion Corp., then and to this day, the world's largest beryllium company. His tenure spanned over 28 years at Brush and Materion, working in many different capacities: material engineer, sales engineer, managing director of a beryllium-foil manufacturing and fabrication facility, director of international sales and marketing, and vice-president of beryllium sales and marketing.

Mr. Dorn commented, "I am honoured to have been offered this opportunity to be a part of Rockland's advisory board, and I am excited to have a chance to contribute to the Beryllium Butte project's success in a meaningful way."

Mr. Dorn first learned about beryllium environmental, health and safety issues at Brush and also the material's use in fusion energy research. Since then, he has been involved with a variety of fusion research activities around the world, including major projects such as Jet, Iter and Demo. Since 2017, he has worked as an independent consultant for his own company, Be4Fusion LLC, and as project associate for beryllium activities at the Iter Organization in France (2018 and 2019) and the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority in England (2019 to 2022), before joining Kyoto Fusioneering early in 2023, working as a technical and business adviser in the U.S. Office.

Active in beryllium technical publishing since 2007, Mr. Dorn has written, co-written or edited more than 40 technical papers and one U.S. patent, including:

  • Lead author of Chapter 11: Beryllium Intermetallic Compounds in the book Beryllium Chemistry Processing (2009);
  • Co-inventor of a U.S. patent titled processes for making salt systems including beryllium fluoride (2017);
  • Co-author of the Iter beryllium management plan (2019), which details how the Iter Organization would safely handle the 12-plus tons of beryllium planned to be used in the reactor;
  • Co-author and co-editor of Beryllium its Alloys as Neutron Multiplier Materials part of Comprehensive Nuclear Materials (2020); lead author of the section on beryllium EHS in fusion research;
  • Co-author of managing beryllium in nuclear facility applications (2011).

Mr. Dorn is also a vice-chair of the Beryllium Health & Safety Committee, a United States-based non-profit group dedicated to promoting safe handling of beryllium. He is also a long-standing member of the International Organizing Committee of the IEA's beryllium working group, which runs the biannual international workshop on beryllium technology, a meeting series that has been held regularly for more than 30 years.

Mike England, chief executive officer of Rockland, stated: "Chris's unparalleled expertise in beryllium and fusion energy research will be an invaluable asset as Rockland Resources advances the Beryllium Butte project. We are excited to welcome him to our advisory board and look forward to leveraging his industry insights and technical acumen."

The company also announces it has set 700,000 options to directors and consultants at 15 cents for a period of two years in accordance with the company's stock option plan.
