The Financial Post reports in its Thursday edition that Rogers Communications posted "lessening" earnings growth as its consolidated results came in just 1 per cent above expectations. The Post's Denise Paglinawan writes that Rogers on Wednesday released its earnings results for the first quarter of 2026, posting a 10-per-cent increase in total service revenue to $4.9-billion, thanks to heavy lifting from its media division, while wireless and cable revenues remained relatively flat. Rogers's media revenue jumped significantly -- up 82 per cent to $988-million -- while wireless and cable revenues were up 2 per cent and 1 per cent, respectively. "Heading into the quarter, we expected the market would be flat year-over-year, with no population growth and potentially no new net adds," chief executive officer Tony Staffieri said during the company's earnings call Wednesday morning. "Service revenue and adjusted EBITDA were both up 1 per cent, but after adjusting for the sale of our data centres last year, both service revenue and EBITDA were up organically a solid 2 per cent." On its wireless business, the company added 33,000 total net mobile phone additions in the quarter, including 28,000 postpaid.
