The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, Jan. 23, edition that Laurentian Bank Securities analyst Gaurav Mathur has lowered his recommendation for Plaza Retail REIT to "hold" from "buy." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Mathur gave his unit target a 25-cent trim to $4.25. Analysts on average target the units at $4.33. Mr. Mathur says in a note: "While the portfolio is concentrated in essential-needs, value and convenience tenants, we note that Canadian consumers remains stretched which in-turn is expected to affect discretionary tenants. From a cash flow lens, we forecast 1-per-cent AFFO/unit growth (2023 to 2025 CAGR), which is at the lower end of our Canadian retail REIT peer set." The Globe reported on July 20, 2022, that Mr. Mathur had reaffirmed his "hold" call on Plaza Retail REIT. The units could then be had for $3.98. The Globe reported on May 9, 2023, and Nov. 21, 2023, that RBC Capital Markets analyst Pammi Bir was sticking with his "sector perform" recommendation for Plaza Retail REIT. The units could then be had for $4.01 and $3.45.
