The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, June 1, edition that Desjardins Securities analyst Gary Ho is keeping his "hold" call for Powerband Solutions intact. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Ho slashed his share target by a penny to two cents. The Globe notes that Mr. Ho is the lone analyst covering Powerband. Mr. Ho cut his share target in response to in-line first quarter results. Powerband is a provider of cloud-based auction and financial software tools for automotive retailers. Mr. Ho says in a note: "We remain cautious given there was no mention in the press release of a re-establishment of existing lending relationships to restart vehicle originations. Cash was $11.6-million at 1Q, but we note a material $5-million jump in accounts payable and accrued liabilities. Shareholders' equity declined to $4.7-million ($7.4-million at 4Q22). We reduced our target (based on book value)." The Globe reported on June 2, 2022, and Aug. 31, 2022, that Mr. Ho rated Powerband "buy." It was then worth 23.5 cents and 18 cents. The Globe reported on Dec. 1, 2022, that Mr. Ho had lowered his recommendation to "hold." The shares could then be had for 8.5 cents.
