The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Dec. 8, edition that seeing North West Company's Canadian business "firing on all cylinders," TD Securities analyst Michael Van Aelst elevated his share target by $3 to $44. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that analysts on average target the shares at $40.75. Mr. Van Aelst says in a note: "With earnings growth having resumed and significant settlement payments expected to be received by northern residents/communities and spent over the next few years, we still see an attractive buying opportunity. That said, investors should prepare for uneven quarterly growth rates, given uncertain and lumpy timing of settlement payments and continuing inflationary pressure." The Globe reported on Dec. 9, 2022, April 7, 2023, and Sept. 15, 2023, that BMO Capital analyst Stephen MacLeod rated North West "market perform." The shares were then worth $37.48, $39.82 and $35.39. In the September item Mr. Macleod said, "[We] think the stock could appeal to income-oriented investors." The Globe reported on Dec. 6, 2023, that RBC Capital Markets analyst Sabahat Khan rated North West "sector perform." The shares could then be had for $37.58.
