The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Sept. 18, edition that Novo Nordisk Canada has partnered with B.C.-based on-line pharmacy Pocketpills for the home delivery of its diabetes and obesity drugs, Ozempic and Wegovy. The Globe's Chris Hannay writes that while patients can fill prescriptions elsewhere, using Pocketpills offers a streamlined process and automatic discounts via the Novo Nordisk savings card, depending on insurance coverage. Additionally, patients can access support through Novo Nordisk's patient program for a more unified experience. Pocketpills chief executive officer Raj Gulia views the partnership as part of the global evolution in pharmaceuticals, where drug makers connect directly with patients looking to reduce time spent in pharmacies or doctors' offices. He said, "It's making life easier for the user, and maybe that's why the pharmaceutical companies are focusing on the direct-to-consumer model." Pocketpills, founded in 2018, operates four fulfilment centres across Canada to deliver medications in all provinces except Quebec. Demand for Ozempic and Wegovy has soared in recent years and Ozempic is by far the highest-earning prescription medicine in Canada.
