Halifax, Nova Scotia / TheNewswire / February 27, 2017 - Merrex Gold Inc. (" Merrex " or the " Company ") (TSX Venture: MXI) is pleased to announce that the British Columbia Supreme Court issued a final order today approving the proposed acquisition of all of the outstanding securities of Merrex by IAMGOLD Corporation pursuant to a statutory plan of arrangement (the " Arrangement "). The Arrangement was also overwhelmingly approved at a special meeting of Merrex Securityholders (the " Meeting ") held on February 22, 2017 by 99.97% of the Merrex securities voted at the Meeting on the Arrangement.

Completion of the Arrangement remains conditional on certain closing conditions customary for transactions of this nature pursuant to the terms of the arrangement agreement dated December 21, 2016. Subject to the satisfaction or waiver of all such closing conditions, it is anticipated that the Arrangement will be completed on February 28, 2017.
