The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, June 30, edition that RBC analyst Nelson Ng is sticking with his "sector perform" rating for Methanex. The Globe's Darcy Keith writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Ng gave his share target a $5 (U.S.) trim to $45 (U.S.). Analysts on average target the shares at $51.27 (U.S.). Mr. Ng says he remains cautious on the shares of Methanex, given weakness in spot methanol prices and macro uncertainty around a potential recession. Mr. Ng says in a note, "Methanex released its July (North America, Asia Pacific, and China) and Q3/23 (Europe) reference prices that were down 3-19 per cent from the prior period, and chemical markets analytics reduced its NE Asian methanol price forecast highlighting a slower than expected demand recovery in China." The Globe reported on Dec. 1 and June 2 that RBC Dominion Securities analyst Nelson Ng rated Methanex "sector perform." It was then worth $39 (U.S.) and $44.10 (U.S.). The Globe reported on June 13 that Scotia Capital analyst Ben Isaacson had lowered his recommendation for Methanex to "sector perform" from "sector outperform." The shares could then be had for $41.32 (U.S.).
