MACKENZIE INVESTMENTS EXPANDS ETF LINEUP WITH GLOBAL EQUITY GOLD OVERLAY AND SYSTEMATIC MULTI-FACTOR SOLUTIONS

Mackenzie Investments has launched four new exchange-traded funds (ETFs), listed in the attached table. Managed by the Mackenzie multiasset strategies team, the ETFs seek to deliver innovative solutions that combine systematic factor investing with a differentiated approach helping investors construct diversified portfolios across global markets. Three of the four ETFs are the first to carry Mackenzie Modus, a new brand for the firm's systematic investment strategies.

Mackenzie Global Equity & Gold Overlay ETF (symbol MGEG)

MGEG is an alternative mutual fund that combines an actively managed global equity allocation with a strategic 50-per-cent notional gold futures overlay in a single ETF. As global equity markets have become increasingly concentrated in U.S. equities, portfolios may also carry greater exposure to common U.S. market and currency drivers. Gold has historically exhibited different return drivers than global equities, while also demonstrating a negative historical relationship with the U.S. dollar, providing diversification.

"By implementing the gold allocation through futures, MGEG maintains full global equity exposure while adding strategic gold exposure in a capital-efficient structure," said Kristi Ashcroft, executive vice-president, products and solutions, Mackenzie Investments. "Investors gain access to the diversification benefits of gold without having to reduce their allocation to global equities."

Mackenzie Modus Global Equity ETF (symbol MMGL), Mackenzie Modus International Equity ETF (symbol MMEA) and Mackenzie Modus Global Small-Mid Cap Equity ETF (symbol MMSD)

Mackenzie Modus is the firm's new brand for a suite of rule-based factor investing strategies. Each Modus ETF systematically targets four established sources of return, value, momentum, quality and low volatility, using a defined and repeatable investment process, rather than relying on manager judgment. Each ETF holds a diversified portfolio built on those four factors while seeking to minimize exposure to uncompensated factors such as size, liquidity, country and sector biases.

MMGL invests primarily in mid and large cap companies globally, while MMSD invests in small and mid-cap companies globally. MMEA focuses on mid- and large-cap companies across developed markets outside the United States and Canada.

The initial offerings of the ETFs have closed and they will begin trading today on the Toronto Stock Exchange under their respective ticker symbols.
