The Globe and Mail reports in its Saturday, Dec. 30, edition that its Megastar portfolio outperformed the market by 9.4 percentage points since last year. The Globe's Norman Rothery writes that Kinross Gold has been added to this year's Megastar portfolio. Kinross Gold is one of The Globe's top 20 picks for this year. Kinross Gold is a gold miner headquartered in Toronto that has operations in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Chile and Mauritania. The company's shares are up 44 per cent over the last year and it pays a dividend yield of 2 per cent in U.S. dollars. The Globe reported on Aug. 18 that Credit Suisse analyst Fahad Tariq had reaffirmed his "neutral" recommendation for Kinross Gold. The shares could then be had for $6.26. The Globe reported on Sept. 13 that Desjardins Securities analyst John Sclodnick rated Kinross Gold "buy" in new coverage. The shares were then going for $6.66. The Globe reported on Oct. 24 that National Bank Financial Markets analysts had reaffirmed their "outperform" recommendation for Kinross Gold. The shares were then going for $7.42.
