The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, Sept. 1, edition that National Bank Financial analyst Nathan Po has moved his recommendation for Jamieson Wellness to "tender" from "outperform." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Po cut his share target back by $5.25 to $45.75. Analysts on average target the shares at $46.43. Po thinks it is unlikely another bid will emerge to rival Kirin Holdings's $2.5-billion all-cash offer. Mr. Po says in a note: "The targeted auction process was relatively broad, seeing an initial outreach of 12 parties, containing both strategics and sponsors from Canada and globally. The [June 24 article from Bloomberg revealing the sale process] also garnered six additional unsolicited inbound inquiries. Of the five non-binding proposals received during the initial process, four were in the $41 to $45/share range, while Kirin's came in at $45 to $48/share. Ultimately, in the next phase comprising three participants (incl. Kirin), one withdrew their candidacy as they believed their final offer would be below $44.50/share and thus, noncompetitive; and one declined to submit a proposal; leaving Kirin as the final suitor with an offer of $45/share."
