The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Nov. 10, edition that RBC Capital analyst Darko Mihelic is sticking with his "outperform" recommendation for iA Financial. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Mihelic bumped his share target ahead by a loonie to $101. Analysts on average target the shares at $99.38. Mr. Mihelic says in a note: "We have an overall positive view on IAG's Q3/23 results as earnings were better than we expected in most segments and capital remains robust as IAG holds $1.6-billion in deployable capital. CRE fair value marks continue to be a theme, but we do not believe IAG's investment property portfolio is truly impaired. We suspect expense control has been a focus this year but anticipate milder 'help' for cost control in future years. We model aggressive buybacks in 2024 which we think can be financed organically and with the Vericity acquisition, offsets disappointing U.S. car warranty results." The Globe reported on Nov. 11 that Mr. Mihelic had reiterated his "outperform" recommendation for iA Financial. In the item he said, "We find the stock as very undervalued relative to long term fundamentals." The shares could then be had for $73.38.
