The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, Jan. 23, edition that Scotia Capital analyst Konark Gupta is keeping his "sector outperform" call on Heroux-Devtek intact. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Gupta boosted his share target to $19.50 from $18.50. Analysts on average target the shares at $19.30. Mr. Gupta says in a note: "We continue to like Heroux-Devtek. Shares were up in 2023 but have underperformed since the market troughed on Oct. 27, 2023. We believe Heroux-Devtek's small market cap, thin trading liquidity and recent industry issues explain the underperformance. The market has likely become more cautious on A&D suppliers after the recent Pratt & Whitney engine issues, followed by the latest Alaska Air incident. However, we are not overly concerned by these issues given Heroux-Devtek's greater exposure to the defense end-market and wide-body commercial jets. Further, we are encouraged by Heroux-Devtek's recent margin progression, efforts to stabilize production, and ability to reprice contracts amid normalizing inflation, while demand remains solid." The Globe reported on May 20 that Mr. Gupta had an unchanged "sector outperform" call on Heroux-Devtek, which was then worth $14.25.
