The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, July 7, edition that Barclays analyst Matthew Murphy has elevated his recommendation for Hudbay Minerals to "overweight" from "equal weight." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Murphy continues to target the shares at $9. Analysts on average target the shares at $10.01. Mr. Murphy says in a note: "The stock has fallen in recent months and now sits at 0.7 times P/NAV vs peers at 1.25 times. We see the shares as being supported by improving production in Peru, integration of Copper Mountain, and the medium-term exploration story, not to mention eventual growth from Copper World." The Globe reported on March 15 that Scotia Capital's Orest Wowkodaw rated Hudbay "sector outperform." In the item Mr. Wowkodaw said, "Hudbay ranks very well on valuation." The shares could then be had for $6.37. The Globe reported on April 12 that in a research report released titled From Prospecting to Prosperity, Eight Capital analysts Ralph Profiti and Puneet Singh predicted "moderate-to-severe" price spikes for copper over the next three to five years. The Eight Capital analysts named Hudbay Minerals one of their "top sector picks." It was then worth $7.
