The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday edition that RBC analyst Sam Crittenden warns falling base metals prices will be significant headwind to second quarter financial results for North American producers. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Crittenden has reaffirmed his "outperform" recommendation for Hudbay Minerals. The RBC stockpicker continues to target the shares at $10. Analysts on average target the shares at $9.94. Mr. Crittenden says in a note: "Hudbay's production should improve in Peru post the protest-related disruptions in Q1. However, the higher grades at Pampacancha aren't expected until [the second half of the year]." The Globe reported on March 15 that Scotia Capital analyst Orest Wowkodaw rated Hudbay "sector outperform." In the item Mr. Wowkodaw said, "Hudbay ranks very well on valuation." The shares could then be had for $6.37. The Globe reported on May 20 that Stifel analyst Alex Terentiew said the near-term upside at Hudbay was looking bright. The shares could then be had for $6.40.
