The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday edition that CIBC World Markets paper and forest products analyst Hamir Patel has boosted Doman Building Materials Group to "outperformer" from "neutral." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Patel has an unchanged share target of $7.50, matching the consensus. Mr. Patel says in a note: "With the company's diversified exposure to [North American] treated lumber markets and Canadian distribution, we believe Doman Building Materials is well-positioned to benefit from a stronger housing backdrop. We note that the shares have lagged Canadian treated peer Stella-Jones by 90 per cent over the past year, and have also lagged other Canadian building product distributors ([Adentra] and [Richelieu Hardware] have outperformed Doman by 5 to 12 per cent over the same period). Doman is trading at a two times multiple discount to Stella-Jones on 2024 EV/EBITDA." The Globe's guest columnist Ted Dixon reported on Oct. 1, 2022, that insiders had been buying company shares, which could then be had for $5.90. The Globe reported on March 14, 2023, that Canaccord analyst Yuri Lynk was sticking with his "hold" call on Doman. The shares could then be had for $6.79.
