Clean Seed signs Alberta dealer for Mini-Max seeder

2026-09-17 18:27 ET - News Release

Mr. Graeme Lempriere reports

CLEAN SEED EXPANDS CANADIAN MARKET ACCESS FOR SMART SEEDER MINI-MAX™ THROUGH WETASKIWIN CO-OP

Clean Seed Capital Group Ltd. has formed a commercial dealer and distribution relationship with Wetaskiwin Co-op, under which Wetaskiwin will promote and sell the Smart Seeder Mini-Max to farmers in central Alberta. The relationship expands Mini-Max's presence and introduces the equipment to Wetaskiwin's established agricultural customer base. It advances Clean Seed's strategy of bringing its precision seeding technology to market through partners with existing producer relationships.

Wetaskiwin is a long-standing, locally owned agricultural cooperative serving farmers throughout Central Alberta and is a member-owner of Federated Co-operatives Ltd. (FCL), one of Canada's largest and most established co-operative organizations. Wetaskiwin will promote the Smart Seeder Mini-Max to its agricultural customers this fall to build product awareness and generate equipment sales in central Alberta.

Building producer engagement at Agri-Trade

In collaboration with Wetaskiwin, Clean Seed will attend the Agri-Trade Equipment Expo at Westerner Park in Red Deer, Alta., Nov. 11 to Nov. 13, 2026, with representatives present throughout the three-day event to introduce Smart Seeder Mini-Max and engage directly with producers.

According to the organizer, Agri-Trade brings together more than 32,000 agricultural buyers and over 500 exhibitors. Held after harvest as producers assess equipment needs for the coming season, the event provides an opportunity to build Mini-Max awareness, generate sales enquiries and support Wetaskiwin's regional sales development.

A Canadian foothold within the co-op system

Federated Co-operatives is a second-tier cooperative owned by more than 150 independent retail cooperatives across Western Canada, one of which is Wetaskiwin. Together, FCL and its member co-operatives form the Co-operative Retailing System, a large Western Canadian network serving more than two million members through more than 1,600 locations.

FCL supports its member cooperatives across a broad range of sectors, including agriculture, food, energy, home and building supplies, through purchasing, distribution, manufacturing, marketing and other business services.

Clean Seed views Wetaskiwin as an opportunity to establish a Canadian commercial presence for the Mini-Max within the Co-operative Retailing System. Successful local equipment adoption with Wetaskiwin could lead to dealer arrangements with other member co-operatives, creating potential for market development beyond central Alberta.

The SMART Seeder Mini-Max is Clean Seed's compact precision seeding platform, designed to bring the company's precision seeding technology to smaller and more diverse farming operations. The Mini-Max is available in five-foot configurations and will subsequently be available in configurations up to 20 feet.

Expanding Clean Seed's commercial deployment

Clean Seed is advancing the commercialization of its patented precision seeding architecture through a combination of licensing, OEM (original equipment manufacturer) manufacturing and regional deployment channels. Smart Seeder Mini-Max is one of the platforms through which that technology is being deployed across a broader range of farms and markets.

The Wetaskiwin Co-op relationship adds a Canadian agricultural retail channel to this strategy, alongside Clean Seed's strategic relationship with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and regional market-development initiatives in Mexico and other priority markets. It provides another route for putting Clean Seed technology directly in front of producers and supporting commercial adoption of the company's technology.

Ron Yaroslawsky, agro division manager of Wetaskiwin, stated:

"With the volatility in farm input costs, helping producers make informed equipment decisions is an important part of our role. We see value in bringing the Smart Seeder Mini-Max to our agricultural customers as they look at ways to improve precision and input efficiency. Working with Clean Seed gives us an opportunity to introduce the technology directly to local producers and help them assess how it fits their operations."

Graeme Lempriere, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Clean Seed, stated:

"Mini-Max is one way we are bringing the technology developed through Smart Seeder Max to a wider market. Working with established manufacturers and retailers is central to that effort, and Wetaskiwin Co-op gives us an important opportunity to advance that strategy here in Canada.

"Our immediate focus is to turn producer exposure into equipment sales in central Alberta. The broader opportunity is to build a successful local presence that can support further Mini-Max expansion. We appreciate the Wetaskiwin team's support and look forward to building that business together."
