The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Jan. 18, edition that Scotia Capital analyst Robert Hope has reaffirmed his "sector perform" recommendation for Capital Power. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Hope gave his share target a $2 trim to $45. Analysts on average target the shares at $44.56. Mr. Hope says in a note: "Capital Power's 2024 EBITDA guidance was generally in line with our below-consensus view, though our cash flow estimates decrease moving forward to reflect higher maintenance costs. Management also moved down 2023 guidance (to a very tight range) to reflect the softer-than-expected pricing in Q4/23. Commensurate with our lower estimates, our target price decreases $2 to $45. Capital Power is currently trading at 6.9 times 2024 estimated EV/EBITDA, and as such, we expect some multiple expansion as our target implies a 7.4 times multiple." The Globe reported on Sept. 14 that ATB Capital rated Capital Power "sector perform" when it was worth $51.03. The Globe reported on Sept. 27 that Mr. Hope had an unchanged "sector perform" call on Capital Power. It was then worth $49.41. The Globe reported on Dec. 7 that Raymond James rated Capital Power "market perform." It was then worth $48.87.
