The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that National Bank Financial analyst Patrick Kenny has reaffirmed his "outperform" recommendation for Capital Power. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Kenny bumped his share target ahead by a loonie to $48. Analysts on average target the shares at $44.88. The Globe says according to Mr. Kenny, Capital Power is "joining the exclusive top 5 Gas IPP club" with a pair of transformative deals. Given his expectation for an increase in average annual earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $265-million through 2026 from the deal, Mr. Kenny sees 8-per-cent long-term accretion, and an "attractive" transaction multiple. The Globe says that led him to raise his 2024 adjusted funds from operations per share estimate to $7.95 from $7.57. Mr. Kenny says in a note, "Combined with both natural gas-fired facilities well positioned to benefit from rising market demand for reliable, dispatchable generation, we reiterate our 'outperform' rating alongside a 37.4-per-cent total return opportunity." The Globe reported on June 1 that Mr. Kenny rated Capital Power "outperform." The shares could then be had for $44.74.
