The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, Feb. 27, edition that TD Securities analyst Graham Ryding has raised his recommendation for CI Financial to "action list buy" from "buy." The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Ryding jacked his share target up by $2 to $23. Analysts on average target the shares at $19.56. Mr. Ryding says in a note: "Results came in slightly above expectations (and consensus). Although leverage moved higher quarter-over-quarter, we expect this ratio to trend lower in 2024 and 2025. Share buybacks continue to be material. Lastly, we were encouraged with the improved disclosure around capital deployment. Our target price moves [up] on our higher estimates. ... We see solid share-price upside potential, given CI's improving fundamentals. We believe the asset management business appears stable. The Canadian and U.S. wealth platforms are delivering asset growth and margin expansion. We are encouraged with the increased visibility around FCF deployment." The Globe reported on Oct. 19 that Mr. Ryding rated CI Financial "buy." It was then worth $13.82. The Globe reported on Feb. 23 that Raymond James analyst Stephen Boland rated CI "market perform" in new coverage. It was then worth $15.83.
