The Investment Reporter, in its May 26, 2023, issue, says buy CI Financial Inc., recently $12.47. The Reporter said buy three times from May 9, 2014, to Oct. 14, 2022, at prices ranging from $13.75 to $35.21. Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the three buys, the $3,000 position would now be worth $1,708. CI Financial is the second-largest non-bank affiliated investment management firm in Canada. For the three months ended March 31, 2023, CI had adjusted earnings of $136.8-million, or 74 cents a share, compared with adjusted earnings of $166.8-million, or 85 cents a share, in the same period of 2022. The decrease was mainly the result of lower management fee revenues in the asset management business as the company's average assets declined. The Reporter notes that earnings comparisons in the remaining quarters of 2023 are expected to turn positive with CI expected to earn more in 2023 than last year's $3.10 a share. CI trades at just 3.8 times the $3.24 a share the company is forecast to earn this year. Its annual dividend of 72 cents a share is equal to a yield of 5.8 per cent. The Reporter says buy CI Financial for long-term growth and income.
