The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, May 2, edition that CIBC World Markets analyst Hamir Patel has raised his recommendation for Canfor Pulp Products to "outperformer" from "neutral" with a $3.50 share target. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that analysts on average target the shares at $4.15. Mr. Patel says in a note: "With Canfor Pulp recently falling below $2 per share for the first time since May, 2009, we believe current levels represent an attractive entry point. At the same time, the depressed share price increases the likelihood that Canfor Corp. (which owns 54.8 per cent of Canfor Pulp) may look to acquire the whole business." The Globe reported on July 21, 2021, and Aug. 5, 2021, that Mr. Patel was sticking with his "neutral" ranking when the shares were worth $7.25 and $6.51. The Globe reported on March 3, 2022, and April 8, 2022, that RBC Capital Markets analyst Paul Quinn rated Canfor Pulp "sector perform." Canfor Pulp shares were then worth $5.09 and $4.91. The Globe reported on July 19, 2022, that Mr. Quinn had elevated his recommendation for Canfor Pulp to "outperform" from "sector perform." The shares could then be had for $5.64.
