The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, July 14, edition that TD Securities analyst Aaron MacNeil anticipates positive near-term updates from Canadian energy services companies during earnings season but cautions about unclear long-term visibility. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. MacNeil says in a note: "Canadian Energy Services stocks have retrenched in tandem with reduced oil prices after the United States-Iran peace deal. Despite recent flare-ups, our Washington research group expects continued de-escalation given the upcoming U.S. midterm elections. To this end, we believe it is too early to rotate into drilling and completions names despite improving fundamentals. Enerflex remains our top pick." Mr. MacNeil is now assuming a 5-per-cent sequential step-up in U.S. drilling activity in the third quarter, which he expects "will hold through the end of 2027." Mr. MacNeil has reaffirmed his "hold" call for CES Energy Solutions. He cut his share target to $18 from $19. Analysts on average target the shares at $21. The Globe reported on Jan. 27 that Mr. MacNeil had downgraded CES Energy Solutions to "hold" from "buy." It was then worth $14.07.
