The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, May 2, edition that Raymond James's Brian MacArthur is keeping his "outperform" call for Cameco intact. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. MacArthur trimmed his share target by a loonie to $83. Analysts on average target the shares at $80.54. Mr. MacArthur says in a note: "Cameco provides investors with lower-risk exposure to the uranium market given its diversification of sources. These sources are supported by a portfolio of long-term contracts that provide some downside protection in periods of depressed spot uranium prices, while maintaining optionality to higher uranium prices. In addition, Cameco has multiple operations curtailed that could be brought back should uranium prices increase. Although the 2021 tax court decision applies only to the 2003, 2005 and 2006 tax years, we view it as a positive for Cameco given we believe it could be relevant in determining the outcome for other years and reduces risk related to the CRA dispute." The Globe reported on Sept. 15, 2023, Dec. 21, 2023, Nov. 8, 2024, and Feb. 21, 2025, that Mr. MacArthur had reaffirmed his "outperform" recommendation for Cameco. The shares could then be had for $50.25, $57.98, $73.12 and $61.87.
