Globe says Pearce thinks Cameco still has legs

2023-11-09 08:17 ET - In the News

The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Nov. 9, edition that BMO Capital Markets analyst Alexander Pearce has resumed coverage on Cameco with an unchanged "outperform" recommendation. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Pearce's share target soared $36 to $68. Analysts on average target the shares at $64.20. Mr. Pearce says in a note: "A year on from first announcing the deal, Cameco's acquisition of Westinghouse is complete. A lot has changed since we last wrote on the stock, with uranium now at decade highs (up 53 per cent) and momentum for low carbon nuclear generation and security of supply increasingly important for utilities and governments. In a sector with a limited number of producers, we think Cameco's advantageous geographical production base, its position as the largest and most liquid uranium stock, as well as attractive EBITDA growth, should support further upside to its stock price." The Globe reported on April 1, 2022, that BMO analyst Alexander Pearce had elevated his recommendation for Cameco to "outperform" from "market perform." The shares could then be had for $36.41. The Globe reported on Nov. 2, 2023, that Eight Capital rated Cameco "buy." It was then worth $56.88.
