The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Nov. 10, edition that RBC Capital Markets analyst Walter Spracklin has reaffirmed his "outperform" call for CCL Industries. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Spracklin gave his share target a $3 trim to $72. Analysts on average target the shares at $75.44. Mr. Spracklin says in a note: "We are taking a largely neutral view on the results and (near-term) outlook provided by the company [Thursday]. While Q3 was in-line, the Q4 outlook was somewhat muted (and by our measure below expectations); however on the other hand, sentiment (and share price trends) coming into the quarter were suggestive that the quarter and outlook would be much worse. In the end, we believe that ramping up acquisitions (noting leverage very low at 1.37 times) would be a key driver of growth and valuation going forward; however we have not seen strong evidence of a pick-up to date." The Globe reported on Feb. 25 that CIBC analyst Hamir Patel had an unchanged "outperformer" recommendation on CCL. It was then worth $64.99. The Globe reported on May 12 that Mr. Spracklin continued to rate CCL Industries "outperform." The shares were then worth $68.01.
