The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, Jan. 17, edition that National Bank Financial analyst Cameron Doerksen has reaffirmed his "outperform" recommendation and $36 share target for CAE. The Globe's David Leeder that analysts on average target the shares at $35.63. Mr. Doerksen says in a note: "While the pace of margin improvement in CAE's defence sector has been a disappointment (and the main impediment to a higher share price in 2023), we remain very positive on the civil segment (approximately 75 per cent or more of total company operating income) where results have come in better than expected so far in F2024. CAE should enjoy growth in its civil segment over a multi-year period supported by underlying airline pilot training demand and higher full flight simulator deliveries. We also expect defence margins to eventually show improvement underpinned by very supportive growth in global defence spending that will drive new order activity." The Globe reported on Nov. 3, 2022, and Jan. 19, 2023, that Mr. Doerksen continued to rate CAE "outperform." The shares could then be had for $24.26 and $28.28. The Globe reported on Nov. 16, 2023, that Scotia Capital rated CAE "sector outperform." It was then worth $28.69.
