The Globe and Mail reports in its Monday, Aug. 3, edition that CIBC Asset Management portfolio manager Craig Jerusalim recommends buying Cameco. The Globe's regular columnist Brenda Bouw writes that Mr. Jerusalim first bought the stock in 2023 and has been adding more in recent weeks. Mr. Jerusalim says he used a recent 30-per-cent pullback from February highs to buy more shares. Even before the Iran war, there was an increased focus on internal energy security, which is now heightened. Mr. Jerusalim says nuclear energy will play a crucial role in ensuring energy security and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in many countries. "We see this dynamic as a significant advantage for Canada and the market leader, Cameco, specifically over the medium and long term." Mr. Jerusalim adds: "Cameco also benefits from its ownership in Westinghouse Electric Co. In 2023, Cameco bought a 49-per-cent interest in Westinghouse, one of the world's largest nuclear services businesses, while Brookfield Renewable Partners bought the remaining 51 per cent."
